Why Design-By-Committee Should Die

Posted by Scott June 29, 2010

The following is an excerpt from a column in Smashing Magazine by .

No matter where you go in the known universe, there is design-by-committee. It has become a pecking order of disaster for the society that used to pride itself on being a mover and shaker and that allowed its mavericks and dreamers to innovate their way to success. While this in itself means great things for businesses, Facebook is now offering businesses new tools to better understand data around user engagement with their brands so they can take advantage of it and better monetize their Facebook presence.

Proof Positive: Social Media Increases Sales

Posted by Scott May 19, 2010

The following is an excerpt from a guest column on Talent Zoo by .

Dell’s ran a couple of social media studies. One claimed that over an 18-month period, Dell’s sales increased by $1 million. However, Bad Bob belittled this claim for various reasons, the main one being that Dell did not set a benchmark prior to measuring sales. While many believe Dell’s claim, it shows direct correlation between offering discounts on Twitter and increased sales, yet it’s not an ideal study.
